2019-2020
After completing our Environmental Review we have identified focus areas for this year. Our major focus for the year is going to be “Litter”. We will aim to educate the school community about the negative impacts of litter. We are also going to continue to develop our school garden and outdoor classroom in order to improve biodiversity in the school grounds. We will also focus on energy usage in school and ensure that we are being as energy efficient as possible.
Eco-Committee
The school Eco-Committee was established in 2004. Its aim is to encourage the school population to appreciate and take care of the environment.
The Eco-Committee has been very busy in school over the years. They have successfully encouraged and developed a paper recycling scheme in school, created a school garden, planted new trees, created a uniform spares initiative, and a compost bin. We are a dedicated school against plastic and a single use water bottle free zone. Northern Ireland Water came into school and gave us all a reusable water bottle - we use our refill stations to keep ourselves hydrated.
Their aim over the coming years is to continue to promote environmentally friendly initiatives in school.
