Tiger in a Tropical Storm

Henri Rousseau

On the 'twinkl' website, look at the Henri Rousseau slide-show.

Use the painting of Tiger in a  Tropical Storm to make your own version.

  • On a sheet  of paper use blue and green paints, pencils , chalk or crayons to colour the background.
  • Cut out green paper (in different shades) from old magazines or catalogues to make the trees and the grass. Stick onto page. (For a 3D effect just put glue on the bottom edge of some of the leaves.
  • Use some red or orange scrap material, paper or foil for the bright leaves at the right hand side of the picture.
  • Draw your own tiger (or print out a photo of one) to put in your collage. Cut out the tiger and stick it amongst the leaves.
  • Display your artwork!

You could also do this collage using different rain- forest creatures. Henri Rousseau also painted monkeys, parrots and toucans in his pictures.
