Music Express

Music Express is a scheme that we use in school (as well as Charanga). It can be accessed (for free) by selecting the link  below and by following the instructions for log in.

Week beginning 22nd June

This week's song is all about the fun of singing. We hope that you keep up the singing over the holidays.

Don't worry if you're heard or not.

Week beginning 15th June

Here is a lovely song all about going up in a hot air balloon!

• Listen to the whole song once.
• Then have a go at singing along to the chorus.
• See how many things you can spot from up in the balloon!

Week Beginning 8th June

This week we are trying 2 songs from the 'Out of the Ark' website.

They are great fun and will get you moving and dancing to the beat!

• Click on the link below and select Week 4 > Scroll down to Fun Friday: Just sing!
• In the same link, select Week 5 > Scroll down to Move it Monday: Wake Up! (There is also a dance video for this song to show you the actions.)

Week Beginning 1st June

This week we trying out 2 more Transport songs from Music Express.

Select:

• Going to town on a bus (Select Line for words)
• Our short ride (select verse). For this song, select a range of improvised or home-made percussion instruments e.g. rice or lentils in  plastic containers for maracas, an old biscuit tin or Pringles tube for a drum and 2 wooden spoons for claves.

 Create your own band! 

Week Beginning 25th May

To start our Transport theme, we are going to use a lovely, bouncy song to get us all moving!

• Go to the Music Express link above. (The website is the same as for our 'Collins Big Cat' books so uses the same log-in procedure. It is free to use.)
• In the Song Bank, scroll down through the Themes menu until you get to Transport.
• Select 'Bike'.
• Dance along to this fun action song.
• Join in with the actions and sing the chorus. (Don't forget to select 'Line' to see the words.)

Week Beginning 18th May

This week we are thinking of ‘kindness’- to others and to ourselves.

Sing along to these catchy, bouncy songs. You might want to dance along too!

• Scroll down to Week 2, Together on Tuesday:  A little bit of kindness
• Scroll down to Week 3, Wellbeing Wednesday: Water, Food, Rest and Exercise
• Listen to the songs and then join in when you can, following the words on the screen.

There is an activity sheet to go with each song. Each activity has a different challenge. Ask an adult to help you read through the challenge for each sheet.

Week Beginning 11/04/20

• Start with Warm -Up: In Music Express select Warm-ups > Year1-2 > Vocal warm-ups > 'Hands on Tummies'. 
• Practise the song: 'Mister Wind' (Select Song-Bank > Scroll to select Theme (Weather) > Mister Wind.)
• Listen to the song. Then sing along, adding the sounds and actions. (Select 'Line' to get the words.)

Week Beginning 4/05/20

1. Start with the 'Banana song' warm up from Music Express; (see  below).
2. Next, try the Skill-builder > Year 1-2 > Beat > Tinga layo.
3. Song to learn: Song Bank > Food and Drink > Sweet Potato. Select: Performance  & Line.

Week Beginning 27/04/20

• Start with this ‘warm-up’ song. From Music Express site select Warm ups > Year 1-2 > Vocal Warm-ups > Banana Song. Select ‘ line’ to get the words on screen. (This is a great song to dance along to. Add your own actions but remember to keep to the beat!)
• Select Musical Focus: Beat. A plate of potatoes.
• Song to learn: Select Song Bank > Gardens > Dig dig dig. Select ‘line’ to see the words.
