We have been learning the parts of flowering plants in P6R and what each part of the flower does. We decided to go outside and explore the outdoor classroom and see if we could identify the parts of a flower.
We also looked at a variety of different leaves and discussed their differences and similarities. All the leaves we found were different shapes, colours and textures. We found some edible leaves in the herb garden (bay, sage, rosemary, parsley) and some poisonous leaves in the vegetable patch (rhubarb). This led to discussions about which parts of different plants we eat i.e. seeds, stem, leaves and flowers!
