We are learning about Water. We talked about how difficult it can be for people living in third world countries to get access to clean water. We know they often have to walk for miles and carry buckets of water home to use. Many people fall ill because of dirty water and poor sanitation. We carried out an experiment to see which materials would be the best to filter dirty water. We used a sieve, a paper towel, tissue paper and tights to investigate this. Then, we worked in groups to carry a bucket full of water over a short distance to see how difficult it would be not to spill any. This helped us to see how difficult it can be for people in Africa who have to carry buckets of water for miles and miles.
