Apple Science Investigation

We have been learning about Apples. We thought about what would happen when an apple is cut open and left sitting out for a few hours or even over night. We planned and carried out an experiment to see what liquid would be the best to stop apples from turning brown when cut open and left in the air. We made this a 'fair test' by using the same sized pieces of apple, the same containers and the same amount of each liquid. We used lemon juice, vinegar, milk, water and bicarbonate of soda solution as our liquids. We then left the apples over night in the different liquids and made predictions as to which would be the best and which would be the worst at preventing the apple from turning brown.
