Bulgarian Celebration - Martenitsa!
All Bulgarians celebrate the beginning on Spring on 1st March. The tradition consists of exchanging bracelets made using white and red yarn. They are tied on each others wrists and wishes are made. The bracelets are worn until they see a blossoming tree or a stork, which is a sign of Spring coming. Then, they take them bracelets off and tie them to a branch of the blossoming tree and their wishes may come true! The name for this day is Baba Marta Day.
The little bracelets symbolise peace and love, health and happiness - good health.
Some of the children in our class are from Bulgaria or have relatives in Bulgaria, and they enjoyed sharing some information about the special day and the lovely red and white bracelets with us in class

We had our first Millionaire Reader in P5 🤩👏 Congratulations on reading over 1 million words so far! Every time you read a book and quiz on it using AR, you get points, which help towards meeting your target, and the number of words are counted. So, the more books you read the more points you get towards your target and the higher your word count! Let’s see if we can get any more millionaire readers in P5 this year!
