Forest School Fun

Week 1
We went to the school site to explore all the areas.
We sang songs and the children enjoyed exploring the digging area, the mud kitchen, the pirate ship, collecting fallen apples and blowing bubbles. They also explored the building area, the roly poly cone, the music wall, the shelter and the log circle area. We talked about staying safe and using kind words and kind hands during Forest School sessions.
Week 2
This week we explored the open space at the Observatory. We blew bubbles and the children chased and popped the bubbles. It was very windy. We played a game called 'hot lava'.
Week 3
This week we went for a senses walk. Our main focus was to listen but we also got to see and touch and smell different thing too.
We heard these sounds on our walk: the wind blowing the leaves off the trees, the traffic as it passed our school, the door of a delivery van slamming closed, the voice of a man talking, the children's boots stamping on the pavement, the sound of twigs snapping underfoot, the horns beeping on cars, the wheels of a trolley near the school kitchen, the phone ringing, children's voices, the wheels of a push chair, a dog barking, birds singing.
