Burning Candle Science Experiment

We know that Howard Carter cut a small hole in the door of Tutankhamun's tomb and held a candle inside. He wanted to check if there was any oxygen inside the tomb. If there was, the flame on the candle would stay lit, but if there wasn't, the flame would go out. We tested this by using three different sized glass jars and a candle. We lit the candle and then placed the glass jar over the top to stop the oxygen getting inside. We timed to see how long it took for the flame to go out.
